The Reisfeld Family Foundation

From one recovery, a Foundation.

A story of unraveling, of finding a way back, and of a commitment to help others do the same.

Our Story

Just before his 30th birthday, Don Reisfeld's life was unraveling. Caught in the grip of compulsive gambling — betting on sports and at the racetrack — his marriage, finances, and future were hanging in the balance. What began as entertainment had become an addiction that threatened to take everything.

Determined to change the course of his life, Don entered a 12-step recovery program on Long Island. Through consistent meetings, counseling, and the support of a recovery community, he began to understand that a different life was possible — one built on accountability, integrity, and hope.

Today, 47 years later, Don is a passionate advocate for individuals and families affected by gambling addiction.

His recovery not only restored what was nearly lost — it reshaped his legacy. He built a lasting marriage, raised two children, and committed himself to helping others find the same freedom he found.

With the rapid expansion of legalized gambling across the country, access has never been easier — and the risks have never been greater. Problem gambling now affects men and women of all ages, impacting individuals, families, and entire communities.

The Reisfeld Family Foundation was created to respond to this growing need. Our goal is to serve as a trusted resource for those seeking help, those in recovery, and the families who support them — offering information, education, and hope to anyone whose life has been touched by gambling addiction.

Our Mission

To provide trusted information, education, and resources for individuals and families affected by problem gambling — empowering those seeking help and those in recovery by promoting awareness, understanding, and access to meaningful pathways toward lasting recovery.

Our Vision

A world where problem gambling is openly understood, stigma is eliminated, and every individual has access to the knowledge, support, and resources needed to achieve recovery and rebuild their lives.

If gambling is affecting your life, help is here.
